Each diffractometer is dedicated to a specific characterisation technique, although two of them look almost identical and could measure the same thing.

Diffraction
An important part of the characterisation of material in the laboratory is the study of the crystalline structure by X-ray diffraction, aka X-ray scattering. Our laboratory has three diffractometers; two are dedicated to X-ray powder diffraction, and the last is for measuring thin layers.
